Claiming supremacy while considering mortality has long been as natural as walking while chewing gum for Dwayne Carter, but there's a greater, grimmer sense across the long-anticipated Carter V that life is just a moment. Wayne's mother sets the tone with a spoken intro that verges on eulogistic, and through her tears somehow leaves the impression that even she is ever so slightly exasperated about the setbacks and protracted delays that plagued the fifth Carter after her son publicized its imminence in 2012. A multitude of personal and professional obstacles, occasionally poignant featured appearances, and mixtapes and intervening albums, were packed into the six years that passed since the fifth Carter volume was promised. The series finale nonetheless arrives with an undue weight of expectation; its maker already has a proven and immense catalog that includes ten Top Ten solo LPs. Almost 90 minutes in length, it's pieced together with material recorded from years to weeks ahead of release, and one cut goes back to resemble an early-2000s crossover bid, from its smoothly melodic Mannie Fresh production to its Ashanti hook. Wayne nonetheless sounds in the moment. There are touching rhymes regarding parenthood, and the moments of romantic heartache and inner conflict -- especially the cathartic last verse of "Let It All Work Out," concerning his attempted childhood suicide -- have instant and lasting resonance. He's also still inspired enough to match wits with Kendrick Lamar (on the suspenseful, bewildering "Mona Lisa") and dash off cunning wordplay like "You a roughneck, I'm a cutthroat" (over a Swizz Beatz recycling of the Ez Elpee news-flash beat he joked about disliking the first time he used it). This exhibits Wayne on an upswing, lucid and invigorated. ~ Andy Kellman

Genre: Hip Hop

Released: 1/25/2019

RSD Release Date: DDD

Format: Vinyl

RSD Date: DDD

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Lil-Wayne-Tha-Carter-V-Vinyl_L10Tw.jpg?v=1742085540
n-w-a-straight-outta-coex-vinyl
N.W.A. As a fan of rap and its associated culture, Post delivers with moderate respect, careful not to toe the precarious line over which others like Iggy Azalea and Riff Raff have stumbled. Although he plays guitar and is influenced by Tim McGraw as much as Kanye West, Stoney is mostly devoid of that country twang, save for some outlaw grit on "Broken Whiskey Glass" and faint strumming on "Go Flex" (bonus track "Leave" actually captures his true cross-genre nature best). Mostly, that part of his background only comes through when he chooses to sing. Those tracks -- notably "No Option" and "I Fall Apart" -- work best, featuring strong vocals that quiver when he pushes it to the limit. Guest vocalists and producers like Kehlani ("Feel"), River Tiber ("Cold"), Pharrell Williams ("Up There"), and Quavo and Metro Boomin ("Congratulations") bolster Stoney with both atmosphere and credibility, while tourmate Justin Bieber increases the star power on the sweet "Cha-Cha"/"Hotline Bling"-esque "Deja Vu." On the aptly titled Stoney, Post Malone provides an appropriate soundtrack for a certain type of recreational rest and relaxation. ~ Neil Z. Artists from Kid Cudi to A$AP Mob were coming at the genre from all sorts of new angles, but with their feet firmly in the rap camp; then producer Travis Scott came along, sounding like Chief Keef but with a much broader brush, offering an attractive version of acid rap that landed him on Kanye West's GOOD Music label with a debut album that's so 2015 it features the ultra-hip trifecta of Future, the Weeknd, and Justin Bieber. Make those three a Venn diagram and Scott is the man in the middle, wonderfully weird and as stylish-sounding as the first two, and yet with a slick appeal that crosses over like Bieber, which is the biggest problem for detractors: it's all for show with no filling. Still, with lines like "Always kept my city on me like it was a Swatch" and "My dick longer than a Pringle box" over beats that honor and match edgy acts like Death Grips (the raw "Piss on Your Grave" featuring Kanye West) and Future (who appears alongside 2 Chainz on the sprawling highlight "3500"), Rodeo is an absurd wonder that thankfully works. That's up to and including Bieber, Young Thug, and Scott's bedroom brain-burner "Maria I'm Drunk," which is the ultra sheen of Taylor Swift with the lust of Miguel experienced via shrooms. "Wasted" sounds like Juicy J did an album for Stones Throw, "Flying High" with Toro y Moi borrows some of Slave's "Slide" so the indie party people get an anthem, then the very big "90210" travels across decades' worth of film soundtrack styles while sampling the late Pimp C as T.I. narrates. Weird that T.I. doesn't rap, and weirder still that Scott barely produces on this album, handing it over to returning and like-minded collaborators like Metro Boomin, Ultra$ound, and Mike Dean. His executive producer credit, however, is on point as the aesthetics of his early work are all here, and with "We designed our love, around these drugs" being the album's most profound lyrical moment, he may not be Nas, but he may be Warhol. As Kanye and Gaga try to bridge the gap between pop and art, this artist thrives in the chasm. Like Warhol said, "I love plastic, I want to be plastic," and with Rodeo, Travis Scott becomes a designer drug. ~ David Jeffries

RSD Date: n/a

Released: 11/06/2015

Genre: Hip Hop

Best Sellers: Top Seller

Format: Vinyl

RSD Release Date: n/a

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Travis-Scott-Rodeo-Vinyl_xyx0P.jpg?v=1741728916
future-high-off-life-pa-2-lp-140g-vinyl-vinyl
Future High Off Life (PA) (2 LP) (140g Vinyl) Vinyl

RELEASE DATE: 07/31/2020

Genre: Hip Hop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 07/31/2020

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Future-High-Off-Life-PA-2-LP-140g-Vinyl-Vinyl_AMrgz.jpg?v=1742068938
kendrick-lamar-untitled-unmastered-vinyl
Kendrick Lamar Untitled Unmastered Vinyl
Issued without advance notice 17 days after Kendrick Lamar's riveting 2016 Grammy Awards performance, untitled unmastered. consists of eight demos that are simply numbered and dated. Apart from segments previewed at the Grammys and late-night television appearances, there was no formal promotion. A postscript, it's (artfully) artless in presentation -- not even basic credits appear on the Army green liner card in the compact disc edition -- yet it's almost as lyrically and musically rich as To Pimp a Butterfly. The dates indicate that the majority of the material was made during the sessions for that album, and the presence of many of its players and vocalists is unmistakable. This was assembled with a high level of care that is immediately evident, its components sequenced to foster an easy listen. Track-to-track flow, however, is about the only aspect of this release that can be called smooth. After an intimate spoken intro from Bilal, the set segues into an urgent judgment-day scenario with squealing strings and a resounding bassline as Lamar confronts mortality and extinction with urgent exasperation. He observes terrifying scenes all the while sensing possible relief ("No more running from world wars," "No more discriminating the poor"). untitled unmastered. offers this and other variations on the connected themes of societal ills, faith, and survival that drove the output it follows, with Lamar at his best when countering proudly materialistic boasts with ever-striking acknowledgments of the odds perilously weighted against his people. Remarkably, this hits its stride in the second half. The stretch involves a rolling, ornamented retro-contemporary production from Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (with vocal assists from Bilal and Cee Lo Green), a stitched suite that is alternately stern and humorously off the cuff (featuring Egypt, five-year-old son of Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, as co-producer and vocalist), and a finale of Thundercat-propelled funk. Even while coasting over the latter's breezy and smacking groove, Lamar fills the space with meaning, detailing a confrontation with sharp quips and stinging reprimands. While Lamar referred to these tracks as demos, and not one of them has the pop-soul appeal of "These Walls" or the Black Lives Matter protest-anthem potential of "Alright," untitled unmastered. is no mere offcut dump. Fortunately for Kanye West, his verbal skills more than rise to the challenge of his consistently superior beats. A sprawling concept record that tackles issues of everyday life with wisecracking humor and unexpected honesty, THE COLLEGE DROPOUT confirms West's status as one of hip-hop's most refreshing voices.
The leadoff single, "Through the Wire," perfectly exemplifies West's distinct vision. Although THE COLLEGE DROPOUT features top-notch cameos from Talib Kweli, Common, Mos Def, Freeway, Jay-Z, Ludacris, and Twista, it's clearly West's show.

RSD Date: n/a

Genre: Hip Hop

Released: 2/24/2004

Format: Vinyl

Best Sellers: Top50

RSD Release Date: n/a

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Kanye-West-College-Dropout-Vinyl_DEbYD.jpg?v=1741818769
freddie-gibbs-madlib-bandana-vinyl
Freddie Gibbs & Madlib Bandana Vinyl

Brand New Sealed | Freddie Gibbs & Madlib | Bandana | Vinyl | Release Date: 07/26/2019 | Record Label: Keep Cool Records

Genre: Hip Hop

Released: 07/26/2019

Best Sellers: Top Seller

Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Freddie-Gibbs-Madlib-Bandana-Vinyl_V1Xnz.jpg?v=1742083616
epmd-back-in-busiex-2lp-vinyl
Epmd BACK IN BUSI(EX/2LP) Vinyl
EPMD: Erick Sermon, Parrish Smith (vocals).Additional personnel: Redman, Das EFX, Keith Murray, Nocturnal, Darryl Trotter (vocals); D.J. Music label, Kid Cudi's third official album landed on Island proper, but it comes off as a label sampler itself, perhaps for the mythical Indicud Records (and that's the marijuana type Indica mixed with the name Cudi) or Kid Enterprises where the Cleveland rapper executive produces it all. Prime example has to be late album highlight "Beez," where Wu-Tang leader RZA brings his own Killer Bees mythos and delivers what could be his anthem ("I don't write songs, Grasshopper/I write sceneries") while Cudi handles the production and delivers the simple hook. In "Girls," it's merely a matter of framing veteran pimp Too Short in Cudi's bud smoker's vision of alt-rap, while "Solo Dolo, Pt. 2" takes the Kid's theme song and allows Kendrick Lamar to run with it, all the way to the Left Coast. Elsewhere, there's the delicious idea of surrounding AOR singer Michael Bolton with cloud rap and EDM beats for the epic "Afterwards (Bring Yo Friends)," or making indie rockers Haim sound something more like the Weeknd on stoner-R&B cut "Red Eye," and then there's the small instrumental/lark called "New York City Rage Fest," which is nothing more than middle-album tomfoolery. All those guest shots are worthy bangers, but Indicud still has some truly Solo Dolo numbers that shine, with "Immortal" turning a MGMT tune played backwards into Cudi's best anthem to date, while "Unfuckwittable" is the off-kilter, brain-melting mutant brand of pop-rap that made the Man on the Moon albums such a thrill. Cudi's said that Indicud is his 2001, in reference to the Dr. Dre album, but Dre was always considered a producer first, and this rapper's shift to producer/rapper is much more sudden and drastic. Still, it's an entertaining, vibrant, and artistically filling album, so consider it a "presents" effort and enjoy the show. ~ David Jeffries

Released: 5/07/2013

Genre: Hip Hop

Format: Vinyl

RSD Release Date: n/a

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Kid-Cudi-Indicud-Explicit-Vinyl_6alPf.jpg?v=1742076532
earl-sweatshirt-doris-vinyl
Earl Sweatshirt DORIS Vinyl
With the 2010 drop of his debut mixtape, Earl, rapper Earl Sweatshirt became one of the main reasons the underground rap crew Odd Future went from obscurity to everywhere. Then, Earl's mom decided he was an "at risk" kid (not because of his ugly, ugly music, but because he was "getting in trouble"), so off to the Coral Reef Academy in Samoa he went, quickly falling into the category of "more of a legend than rapper" as Odd Future broke out the "Free Earl" T-shirts with no other explanation for his absence. As such, his official debut falls into the category of "highly anticipated," but the real story behind the murky and free-flowing -- almost globular -- Doris is that the morbid horror-show rapper heard previously has grown into an observational maverick-style artist, offering downtrodden and even dour rhymes that come off like MF Doom recounting his visit to the Grand Guignol. Swaying slowly with Tibetan monk vocals in the distance, the ghostly "Hive" with Vince Staples and Casey Veggies offers the vivid "Come around we gun 'em down/Bodies... piled... Auschwitz," while the Tyler, the Creator feature "Whoa" kicks off with the Odd Future leader declaring "This ain't no 2010 sh*t," which Earl proves by dropping crooked rhymes about pot ("Steaming tubes of poop and twisted doobies full of euphemisms") and Harry Potter ("Bruising gimmicks with the broom he usually use for Quidditch"). MF Doom fans will be familiar with the style, and while the rumored Doom collaboration does not wind up on the final Doris, another obvious influence, RZA, is here, appearing on the aptly titled "Molasses," a slow, rich mix of Wu-Tang and Wolf Gang flavors. Mac Miller's recent embrace of the underground pays dividends during the bent and broken "Guild," while Frank Ocean influences Earl to sing his own blues on the great "Sunday" ("Nightmares got more vivid when I stopped smoking pot/And lovin' you's a little different, I don't like you a lot"). Underneath all this mumbled madness are some truly wonderful sounds -- much of it made by Earl under his alias randomblackguy -- as "Chum" runs like an underground indie suite of excellent ideas while "Centurion" twists a Krautrock and Can sample into something thug and stately. All that said, Doris is unsettled, messy, and takes a bit to sort, but there are codes to crack and rich rewards to reap, so enter with an open mind and prepare to leave exhausted. ~ David Jeffries

Genre: Hip Hop

Best Sellers: Top Seller

Format: Vinyl

Released: 12/11/2015

RSD Release Date: n/a

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Earl-Sweatshirt-Doris-Vinyl_lLlYM.jpg?v=1742062055
daly-jon-abracadabralifornia-rsd-black-friday-11-27-2020
Daly, Jon Abracadabralifornia (RSD Black Friday 11.27.2020) Vinyl

Daly, Jon | Abracadabralifornia (RSD Black Friday 11.27.2020) | Vinyl

Released: 11/27/2020

Genre: Hip Hop

Internal ID: JITRE

Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Daly-Jon-Abracadabralifornia-RSD-Black-Friday-11272020-_w4hdB.jpg?v=1742090462
non-phixion-future-is-now-vinyl
Non Phixion FUTURE IS NOW Vinyl
Non Phixion includes: Ill Bill, Goretex, Sabac Red (rap vocals); DJ Eclipse (turntables).
Additional personnel includes: Pete Rock, DJ Premier, The Beatnuts, Necro, MF Doom.

.
Debuting in the late 1990s with blazing hot singles "Legacy" and "I Shot Reagan," the Brooklyn-based hardcore rap outfit Non-Phixion was already one of NY's most respected underground groups before they had a studio LP to their name. In fact, they do so in 14 different ways on Juvenile Hell. Mostly produced by Mobb Deep themselves, this album is rawness at an unrelenting pace, with an undeniable, relentless, and often irrational energy. The intro cut sets the mood as a warning, set to a "Queens brand" production. The tempo is kind of fast, but the bassline rolls to easily facilitate a strong head nod. The sampled horn stabs help to remind you that, after all, it's still music. Over this beat Prodigy cautions: "It's called Juvenile Hell; you won't survive long." In the first few songs, Mobb acquaints the listener with the life of a "frustrated and confused young juvenile" living in Queens. Juvenile Hell is hardcore, but not void of musical pr creative effort and accomplishment; it's really cool, serious, and 100 percent hip-hop. Highlights include "Flavor for the Non Believes," "Peer Pressure," "Stomp Em Out" (featuring Big Noyd), and "Hold Down the Fort." When Juvenile Hell was initially released, it didn't do so well in the stores. Perhaps it was the excess of threats and proclamations making up Juvenile Hell that kept buyers away in 1993, or maybe it was the label's inability to market this virulent project correctly. In any event, it's an album worthy of historical note. ~ Qa'id Jacobs

Released: 07/13/2018

Genre: Hip Hop

RSD Release Date: DDD

Format: Vinyl

RSD Date: DDD

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Mobb-Deep-Juvenile-Hell-Vinyl_HFjAK.jpg?v=1741189129
carey-mariah-rainbow-vinyl
Carey, Mariah Rainbow Vinyl

Carey, Mariah | Rainbow | Vinyl | 11/06/2020

Genre: Hip Hop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/06/2020

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Carey-Mariah-Rainbow-Vinyl_Ltr8j.jpg?v=1742067962
kanye-west-ye-vinyl
Kanye West ye Vinyl
When Kanye West declares "It's been a shaky ass year" on 2018's Ye, it's an understatement. During a tumultuous period following 2016's The Life of Pablo, he garnered as much attention for headline controversy as for his music: he was hospitalized for stress and exhaustion following the cancellation of his Saint Pablo tour, later revealing a struggle with opioid addiction, and a disastrous pre-album promotion cycle was packed with provocative political proclamations. West's world seemed to be spiraling out of control. As the lines between public life and studio recordings blurred, the two became increasingly inextricable, culminating with his complicated eighth effort, Ye. While Pablo delved into the darker corners of fame and family, Ye is messier and more uncomfortable, especially when heard in the context of his high-profile outbursts preceding its release. West places mental health at the center, complicating his usual bravado.
On the opening "I Thought About Killing You," West delivers a stream-of-consciousness confessional about morality, murder, and suicide from an imaginary therapist's office sofa. Designed to shock, it feels like an interlude, not a full-fledged song. Ye improves from there, as West switches gears on "Yikes," dropping the album's first delectable beat and matching it with an equally addictive flow. It recalls West's early spirit, an enticement for audiences to keep listening. When he boasts, "That's my bipolar shit/That's my superpower," he embraces his issues and defies challengers with self-affirmation. For all the awkward times when West forces listeners to confront his internal struggles, Ye has moments of clarity. "Ghost Town" shines, serving as an appetizer to the superior Kid Cudi collaboration Kids See Ghosts that arrived the week after Ye. Along with Cudi and breakthrough newcomer 070 Shake, West offers a glimmer of hope, facing failure and reigniting optimism and personal acceptance by proclaiming, "And nothing hurts anymore/I feel kinda free." "Wouldn't Leave" is a touching ode to his wife's loyalty, while "No Mistakes" maintains tenderness, recalling early-2000s Kanye with its uplifting, old-school production. The reflective "Violent Crimes," directed toward his daughters, is an effort to atone for his past misogyny, but closes Ye with a whimper, confusing its message with a voicemail cameo from Nicki Minaj.
Ye can feel uneven, sometimes boring, and more indulgent than usual, but it's a fascinating peek into West's psyche. Like Pablo, Ye may be firmly tied to its surrounding public drama, yet it's a rough-hewn, vital piece to the puzzle for those still willing to humor West and his many demons. Pushing the mental health discussion into such a public space, he challenges listeners' limits while leaving himself vulnerable for judgment. Taken as a snapshot of his state of mind at the time -- and in relation to the adjacent GOOD Music releases recorded simultaneously during the Wyoming sessions -- Ye offers a bittersweet reflection of its creator, who is confused, searching, and at a crossroads. ~ Neil Z. Released on its maker's 32nd birthday, three days before he passed away, the album has a resonance deeper than anyone could've hoped for or even imagined. Some who were close to Dilla have said that there are hidden messages in the samples, the track titles, and who knows where else. It's impossible not to speculate about some things, like the track titled "Don't Cry," the looped "broken and blue" from a version of "Walk on By," the presence of Eddie Kendricks singing "My people, hold on," or the fact that there are 31 tracks, a possible signal that Dilla survived a little longer than he expected. Then again, for every possible message, there are two or three elements that could've been designed to throw any analysis off its trail. After all, if there's one single image that the disc brings to mind, it's that of Dilla goofing off, having fun with some of his favorite records, and messing with some heads in the process. (And you could probably make the album's title out to be a metaphor for the circle of life, but sometimes a donut is just a donut.) Armed with sources that are either known to novice sample spotters or only the most seasoned diggers -- surprisingly, the former greatly outweighs the latter -- Dilla's also just as likely to leave his samples barely touched as he is to render them unrecognizable. It's fitting that Motown echoes, a predominant theme, are often felt, from the use of Dionne Warwick's Holland-Dozier-Holland-written "You're Gonna Need Me" (on "Stop"), to the shifting waves of percussion plucked from Kendricks' "People... Hold On" (on "People"), to the Stevie-like piano licks within Kool & the Gang's "The Fruitman" ("The Diff'rence"). Most of the tracks fall into the 60-90 second range. It's easy to be overwhelmed, or even put off, by the rapid-fire sequence, but it's astounding how so many of the sketches leave an immediate impression. By the third or fourth listen, what initially came across as a haphazard stream of slapped-together fragments begins to take the shape of a 44-minute suite filled with wistful joy. Like everything else Dilla has ever done, Donuts is not defining; in fact, elements of its approach bare the apparent influence of Jaylib collaborator Madlib. His mode has always been too slippery and restlessly progressive to be equated with any one track or album, but Donuts just might be the one release that best reflects his personality. ~ Andy Kellman

Handling Note: **Please allow an additional 72 hours for this item's shipment.**

RSD Date: n/a

Format Detail: 2LP w/ DL

Genre: Hip Hop

Internal ID: JITRE

Best Sellers: Top Seller

Released: 10/04/2011

Format: Vinyl

RSD Release Date: n/a

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-J-Dilla-Donuts-Smile-Cover-Vinyl_xfp4E.jpg?v=1742099222
carey-mariah-butterfly-vinyl
Carey, Mariah Butterfly Vinyl

Carey, Mariah | Butterfly | Vinyl | 11/06/2020

Genre: Hip Hop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/06/2020

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Carey-Mariah-Butterfly-Vinyl_hYZRf.jpg?v=1741188062
carey-mariah-daydream-vinyl
Carey, Mariah Daydream Vinyl

Carey, Mariah | Daydream | Vinyl | 11/06/2020

Genre: Hip Hop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/06/2020

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Carey-Mariah-Daydream-Vinyl_DZjjB.jpg?v=1742063498
fugees-the-score-copper-vinyl-2lp-vinyl
Fugees The Score (Copper Vinyl | 2LP) Vinyl

Fugees | The Score (Copper Vinyl | 2LP) | Vinyl | 10/12/2018

Released: 10/12/2018

Genre: Hip Hop

Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Fugees-The-Score-Copper-Vinyl-2LP-Vinyl_uV8XK.jpg?v=1742060303
eminem-kamikaze-vinyl
Eminem Kamikaze Vinyl

Eminem | Kamikaze | Vinyl | 12/7/2018

Released: 12/7/2018

Genre: Hip Hop

RSD Release Date: DDD

Best Sellers: Top Seller

Format: Vinyl

RSD Date: DDD

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Eminem-Kamikaze-Vinyl_26GzM.jpg?v=1741961700
king-krule-ooz-vinyl
King Krule OOZ Vinyl
Archy Marshall debuted as Zoo Kid when he was an actual kid and released his acclaimed first album -- under the presumably self-bestowed title King Krule -- before he turned 20. Marshall continued work on new material for years but was displeased with it, save for a set of mumbling-in-a-bucket hip-hop blues, A New Place 2 Drown, credited to his off-stage name. The Ooz, the artist's second King Krule album, surfaced -- or is that seeped out? -- five years after the first one. Compared to the debut, the songwriting is more refined and the sounds are more disparate, resulting in a sort of controlled chaos, a scuzzy mix of nervy neo-rockabilly projectiles, howling dirges, and noodling dive-lounge tunes. It's further distinguished with saxophonist Ignacio Salvadores' writhing bleats, continually in support of Marshall's scraggly guitar work and variety of voices, as liable to sound like his slumped natural self as an exaggeration of growling punks like the Clash's Paul Simonon or the Ruts' Malcolm Owen. Clear references are made to Marshall's previous full-lengths, and repeated allusions to water -- as in sinking -- as well as blue as a color and feeling, are likewise threaded throughout. Damp, suffocating city streets are never distant. When Marshall retreats to physical solitude, he can't leave his head -- not even with a prescription, a situation related in a whirling frenzy of insomniac agitation titled, naturally, "Emergency Blimp." Marshall is just as expressive and evocative when he keeps it guttural; "She smoked me whole and blows out Os," over decayed, dispirited bossa nova, passes like a wisp but could be the album's emotional center. Details that seem to provide levity -- "Man this band that's playin', is playing fucking trash" among them -- have a way of heightening the sense of inescapable dread. No matter that feeling, illustrated with one distressed scene after another, filtered through a multitude of inspirations and a few bodily fluids, The Ooz is a completely engrossing work from a one-off. ~ Andy Kellman

Handling Note: **Please allow an additional 72 hours for this item's shipment.**

Genre: Hip Hop

Format Detail: 2LP Gatefold

Internal ID: JITRE

Released: 10/13/2017

RSD Release Date: DDD

Format: Vinyl

RSD Date: DDD

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-King-Krule-Ooz-Vinyl_Sapxm.jpg?v=1741822627
lizzo-cuz-i-love-you-deluxe-edition-vinyl
Lizzo Cuz I Love You (Deluxe Edition) Vinyl

Brand New Sealed | Lizzo | Cuz I Love You | Deluxe Edition | Vinyl | Release Date: 09/20/2019 | Record Label: Atlantic

Genre: Hip Hop

Format: Vinyl

Released: 09/20/2019

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Lizzo-Cuz-I-Love-You-Deluxe-Edition-Vinyl_Xol5P.jpg?v=1741193282
lauryn-hill-mtv-unplugged-2-0-vinyl
Lauryn Hill MTV Unplugged 2.0 Vinyl

Brand New Sealed | Lauryn Hill | Mtv Unplugged 2.0 | Vinyl | Release Date: 12/07/2018

Genre: Hip Hop

Best Sellers: Top Seller

Format: Vinyl

Released: 12/07/2018

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Lauryn-Hill-Mtv-Unplugged-20-Vinyl_Wt4PC.jpg?v=1741905417
post-malone-beerbongs-bentleys-2lp-clear-vinyl-vinyl
Post Malone beerbongs & bentleys [2 LP][Clear] Vinyl
In the year and a half following his multi-platinum full-length debut, Post Malone continued his climb up the celebrity ladder, extending Stoney's success with the number one single "rockstar" and second-place follow-up "Psycho." Those tracks landed on his chart-topping second effort, Beerbongs & Bentleys, which arrived in spring 2018. Too politically astute and musically talented to fall into the ruts of rap cliches and dependence on overused samples, the Fugees are placing a significant, personalized stamp on the direction of hip-hop.

Genre: Hip Hop

Released: 12/31/2025

Format: Vinyl

RSD Release Date: n/a

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Fugees-Score-Vinyl_YkQO5.jpg?v=1742114744
travis-scott-birds-in-the-trap-sing-mcknight-vinyl
Travis Scott BIRDS IN THE TRAP SING MCKNIGHT (EXPLICI Vinyl
Titled after one of Quavo's lines from the chirpy summertime 2016 hit co-billed to Travis Scott and Young Thug, this fitfully hypnotizing follow-up arrived after numerous delays, toward the end of the year's third quarter. "Pick Up the Phone" functioned as the lead single off Thug's JEFFERY, and it sensibly reappears here, buried in the latter half, de-emphasized yet not quite a tacked-on bonus. It's easily the track with the most pop appeal on Scott's second full-length. Released almost exactly a year after Rodeo, Birds in the Trap features little development, though the large company Scott keeps is quite different, and Metro Boomin is noticeably absent. Among the present is Andr? 3000, who drops by on "The Ends" to recollect the infamous rash of murders that struck his city during his early childhood. The album's deepest verse by a great measure, it has no discernible connection to Scott's surrounding rhymes of cocksure nonsense. That remains the M.O. of Scott, who remains deeply into heavy accessorization and proclamations of dominance, as well as punctuations with affirmative exclamations cast in dehumanizing pitch alteration. Swarming basslines and sluggish beats likewise form the rhythmic foundation, with gauzy and tickling keyboards adding sweetness to Scott's hedonistic hooks. Only on "Guidance," through scuttling drums granted by DF, is there a significant shake-up. This time, Scott co-produced only one track, another Weeknd collaboration, and it easily slips into the album's scheme with its serpentine menace and lightweight lyricism. Among the others on the guest carousel are Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, 21 Savage, and Cassie. The first volume saw Jay-Z as vital as he'd ever been, storming back to the hardcore after a few years of commercial success. THE BLUEPRINT 2 took a different tack, with guest shots to compliment his sinuous flows. BLUEPRINT 3 is somewhere between the two, closer to the vitality and energy of the original but not without the crossover bids and guest features of the latter. Kanye West is in the producer's chair for seven tracks, and it's clear he was reaching for the same energy level as the original. "What We Talkin' About" begins the album with a wave of surging, oppressive synth, while Jay-Z enumerates (with an intriguing lack of detail) what he's said and what's been said about him, ending with a nod not to the past but the future (and Barack Obama). There's plenty more lyrical violence to come, but most of the targets are much safer than they were eight years earlier (i.e. opening single and smash hit "D.O.A. [Death of Auto Tune]" (railing against the oft-reviled '00s vocal-tweaking phenomenon is not quite as "politically incorrect" as Jay claims through song). On the one hand, Genius schools the Clan's followers through songs that address serious problems experienced in every day inner-city life. "Cold World," which is backed by whirling wind sound, contains mini-stories that illustrate the misfortunes of gun-slinging in the hip-hop community. "Investigative Reports" goes even deeper in administering the blame, suggesting that drug-related crimes stem from a higher authority. It's there on the opening song, an interpolation of the old Four Seasons song "An Angel Cried," its title suggesting sadness. It's there in the hopeful closer "Get Well Soon," whose gospel turns of phrase play like a benediction. It's there in the percolating "The Light Is Coming," which dismisses darkness. Most of all, it's there in the maturity and focus Grande displays on Sweetener, an album that broadens and deepens the R&B inclinations of 2016's Dangerous Woman. Grande may still find some space for silliness -- witness "Pete Davidson," a minute-long ode to her fianc? which winds up with her repeating "happy" as if it were a mantra -- but Sweetener never seems frivolous. The love songs carry weight, there's gravity in the effervescent re-creations of disco; the sparkling EDM surfaces of "Good Night N Go" coalesce into a sweet romanticism, and the big club beats seem elastic, not rigid. Similarly, Grande never pushes these songs too hard. Instead of favoring vocal pyrotechnics, she demonstrates restraint, which isn't merely an indication of stylistic maturation but how her songs resonate without such tricks. Such concentration doesn't simply result in a stronger set of songs, but an album that coheres in a way other Ariana Grande albums don't, which means Sweetener is something of a double triumph: she's come through a tough time stronger and better than before. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Genre: Hip Hop

RSD Release Date: DDD

Format: Vinyl

Released: 11/02/2018

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0518/8439/2621/files/Monostereo-Ariana-Grande-Sweetener-Vinyl_msPIW.jpg?v=1742060586
dmx-flesh-of-my-ex-vinyl
Dmx FLESH OF MY..(EX) Vinyl
Personnel includes: DMX, Swizz Beatz, Drag-On, The Lox, Jay-Z (rap vocals); Mary J. Admittedly, the repackaging itself is less than revelatory, with final track "B-Boy Bouillabaisse" split up from its original medley (although "A Year And A Day" and "Dropping Names" finally receive their due as breakout singles) (A digi-download card with audio commentary is also included.) But for a generation of younger hip-hop fans casually accustomed to kneejerk sampling and familiar with the Beasties only from "Fight For Your Right" and freeing Tibet, PAUL's giddy psychedelic crate-digging (along with production team the Dust Brothers) will properly blow their minds.
When The Beastie Boys hit platinum with their debut album, they were instantly labeled the Elvises of rap, accused of being just another bunch of white musicians stealing from black music. But what was overlooked was that the Beasties actually had some interesting ideas to take hip hop to new levels. While in the years to come other white rappers like Vanilla Ice and Jesse Jaymes would prove they were the true cultural thieves, the Beasties defended themselves by recording a seminal rap album, PAUL'S BOUTIQUE. The record was, in fact, so legit that it eroded their commercial appeal in middle America.
PAUL'S BOUTIQUE is a sample-fest--a post-modern epic of cut and splice studio wizardry. Taking snippets of music from sources as disparate as Curtis Mayfield, The Beatles, B.D.P., The Ramones and The Jaws soundtrack (as well as countless others), they built songs out of the debris of modern culture. Over these mind-blowing tracks, they weaved tall tales, self-promotional proclamations and sheer non-sense into a singular vision of inspired lunacy. Besides Public Enemy, no one else was producing albums as complex as this.
